Common Dryer Problems
Even the most common dryer problems can be caused by a wide range of issues. Never fear, our Hometown Heroes have the experience and expertise to correctly diagnose your dryer on the first visit.
Not Heating or Drying
If your dryer is failing at the one job it has, a heating element (electric) or an igniter or coil (gas) could have failed. It could also be a blown thermal fuse or thermostat failure. Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
Won’t Turn On
If the dryer won’t even turn on, the issue could be a malfunctioning door switch, thermal fuse, control board, or start switch. Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
Making Noise or Vibrating
Any number of components can wear out or fall out of alignment, including drum rollers, bearings, drive belts, idler pulleys and motors. Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
Drum Not Turning
If the dryer is on but the drum doesn’t turn, the issue could be a broken drive belt, a worm idler pulley, or a failing motor. Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
Preventative Maintenance
Dryer Vent Cleaning
If your dryer takes longer to complete a cycle or your clothes and the dryer are hotter than usual, it’s probably time to clean your dryer vent. Clogged dryer vents are the leading cause of house fires in the US, which is why every appliance manufacturer recommends that you clean and inspect your vent annually to prevent buildup of flammable materials.
Services include:
- Cleaning and repair (if needed)
- Upgrades to hard or semi-rigid piping to help contain lint fires
- Free annual lint inspection with every cleaning
How Much Will It Cost?
Dryer repairs commonly cost between $250 and $500 for parts and labor combined, always quoted up-front from The Appliance Blue Book, the standard price guide used nationwide. For your peace of mind, we would love to provide an estimate when you call, but we can’t know for a fact what’s wrong until we look at your appliance.
What goes into the cost of service?
1. Diagnostic Fee
The least you’ll pay if you choose not to repair. This flat fee covers scheduling and communication, triage to bring the right parts, travel time and gas, diagnosis, and a repair estimate for you to approve, all for just $149 (except in special circumstances). The fee is included in the repair.
2. Parts & Labor
We use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts to protect your appliance and your warranty coverage. Not all repairs require new parts: our techs are trained to find and fix the root issue, and they will not change parts unless necessary.
Repairs come with a 3-month guarantee on all labor and parts. In addition to cash and check, we accept: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.
Is there a cheaper option?
Schedule a remote visit for only $49 and we’ll try to help diagnose and fix the issue over the phone. If we can’t, the $49 is applied to the $149 diagnostic fee for us to come out.
