Common Cooking Appliance Problems
Even the most common problems can be caused by a wide range of issues. Never fear, our Hometown Heroes have the experience and expertise to correctly diagnose your appliance on the first visit.
Burning or Smoking
While food debris on a heating element or burner pan is often the cause, this could also be caused by an arcing bake element (electric) or a weak gas igniter causing buildup (gas). Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
Not Heating Up
If your appliance isn’t cooking, a heating element (electric) or igniter (gas) could have failed. The issue could also be a malfunctioning temperature sensor or control board. Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
Door is Broken
If the door hinge or door seal has failed or the glass has shattered, not only is your oven frustrating to operate, it will not maintain a consistent temperature. Let an expert fix it.
Error Codes
Error codes can report on issues or failures with temperature sensors (most common), door switches, or control boards. Let an expert determine the root cause and fix it.
How Much Will It Cost?
Repairs commonly cost between $250 and $500 for parts and labor combined, always quoted up-front from The Appliance Blue Book, the standard price guide used nationwide. For your peace of mind, we would love to provide an estimate when you call, but we can’t know for a fact what’s wrong until we look at your appliance.
What goes into the cost of service?
1. Diagnostic Fee
The least you’ll pay if you choose not to repair. This flat fee covers scheduling and communication, triage to bring the right parts, travel time and gas, diagnosis, and a repair estimate for you to approve, all for just $149 (except in special circumstances). The fee is included in the repair.
2. Parts & Labor
We use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts to protect your appliance and your warranty coverage. Not all repairs require new parts: our techs are trained to find and fix the root issue, and they will not change parts unless necessary.
Repairs come with a 3-month guarantee on all labor and parts. In addition to cash and check, we accept: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.
Is there a cheaper option?
Schedule a remote visit for only $49 and we’ll try to help diagnose and fix the issue over the phone. If we can’t, the $49 is applied to the $149 diagnostic fee for us to come out.
