This job turned out to be a little enigmatic! My ice maker had quit working, due to a leak and icing up inside the mechanism. Anthony got it defrosted and, before charging me for an expensive repair bill, he suggested I try contacting the manufacturer to see if they might cover it under an extended warranty, even though I was doubtful because the refrigerator is 7+ years old. He left for another job, I called the manufacturer and confirmed they couldn't help me, but then I noticed my refrigerator was completely not running at all! I thought maybe Anthony had forgotten to turn something back on, but couldn't figure it out, so I called Hometown Heroes back and they connected me with Anthony. He suggested I check my electrical panel for a tripped breaker and, sure enough, there was one, but when I tried to reset it, it kept tripping. By this time it was nearing 5:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon, but Anthony came BACK to my house to figure out what went wrong! He did a bunch of trouble- shooting and eventually figured out the problem. He ended up replacing my ice maker at my request and my fridge and ice maker are again working beautifully. He didn't leave my house until almost 7 p.m. on a Friday night, but remained completely cordial, patient and kind (even when it required having to re-do/ re-submit paperwork!) My problem was an unusual one, but Anthony had a good understanding of what might be the cause and was able to fix it "after hours". I was SO appreciative of his knowledge, as well as his willingness to go above and beyond to be an excellent repairman!! Thank you, Anthony!

Even though it took three trips to fix the dishwasher, (had to order parts two different times), I was told up front what they felt was wrong with it. Rory showed me the damaged wire harness, which was the root cause of other things being damaged, including the circuit board necessitating a third trip. Hometown Hero techs took steps to help reduce the floor from being scratched when the dishwasher was pulled out. The repair was completed under manufacturer's warranty, for which Hometown Hero is qualified to repair. Will consider using Hometown Hero for other repairs on appliances not under warranty.

You must have a smartphone with a camera, although no special software is required.
The focus of this appointment is a diagnosis, not repair. If it’s simple and we can repair it by instructing you, fantastic! But the primary intent is to give you an idea of the failure, and whether it makes sense to pursue repair options.
Since the focus is the diagnosis of the product and we want to keep you safe, no tools or disassembly are allowed during this appointment.
We can only inspect and make recommendations for one appliance per appointment, in order to make sure we’re on time for other customers’ appointments.
If we can provide a likely diagnosis, we are happy to provide a repair estimate, or even quote parts that are needed for the repair (which you can purchase from our parts store, either for local pickup or flat rate shipping).
Since we aren’t there, we can’t guarantee the diagnosis. We’ll do our best, but the most accurate diagnosis is in person, in front of the machine.
If you decide to have us out after the virtual appointment (and you’re located within our service areas) we will happily apply this virtual diagnostic fee toward an in-home visit.
